It’s been a little while since I’ve written one of these.
You may have noticed that we weren’t around quite as much this summer. I was dealing with a fair bit of burnout, and trying to do both: push through it, while also making some breathing room.
Summer, for me, was honestly a lot about slowing down.
Slowing down looked like board games in parks, chasing sunflowers, sitting under the sun with absolutely nowhere to be, short and long walks with doggos, and living almost permanently in Riri shorts. There was a lot of doing very little sometimes. Spending time with family. Rotting in front of the TV. Staying quiet. Just being.
And then there were days when I’d decide to push through it anyway, only to feel the burnout come back with a little more intensity.
I think this season forced me to learn that not every season has to be one of momentum. Sometimes you need a little space around your life before you can feel curious about it again.
And now, slowly, I’m starting to. Here's hoping.
The weather is turning, which means our sweatshirts are becoming an every-other-day phenomenon around here. On non-sweatshirt days, I’ve been wearing Sawyer pretty consistently, usually with a jacket thrown over it. Jumpsuits are back in heavier rotation too, and Morgan has become a particular go-to lately.
Morgan / Sawyer + pants + jacket + cute unmatched socks + Crocs has, somewhat unconsciously, become my fall uniform.
And, of course, corduroy season is almost here too.
Our 100% cotton corduroys are some of my favorite things we make: warm enough to feel cozy, easy to wear as-is through fall, and such a fun, colorful layer once winter actually arrives.
There are a few new things brewing, too.
We’re working on a small holiday capsule featuring handloomed cotton pieces constructed to mimic the drape and occasion-feeling of silk — without actually using silk. More on this soon!
I’ve also just about started thinking a little further ahead to next year: new silhouettes, new print ideas, and possibly where I’d want Wild & Pree to wander next.
Mostly, though, I’m looking forward to rebuilding my own relationship with art — and to feeling a little more present on our socials again.
Paints. Color. Playing around. Following an idea because it looks interesting, not because I already know where it’s going.
After the summer that this one has been, that feels like a pretty good place to begin again.
Here’s to colder days, softer layers, making room, and finding our way back to play.
❤️
Pree
